Краткое содержание:

After separating from the father of her son, a young French woman tries to find lodging and a fresh start in L.A. for herself and her son.

An unhappy Frenchwoman is living in Los Angeles, alone with her son now that her boyfriend has left for good. She works typing for a filmmaker, on a beach that is as bleak and desolate as she feels at this juncture in her life. The daily routine is hard to bear in the face of her loneliness, and only the relationship with her son offers any chance of recovery from a deadening despair.

A Frenchwoman, Emilie slowly puts her life together after the breakup of her partner, finding a home for herself and her son Martin and adjusting to life as a single mother.
While working as a typist, transcribing work for a writer she meets a film crew who have made a documentary on the murals of L.A. Though they originally intended to have her employer reading the narration they ask Emilie to do it instead.
