Movie description:
10-year-old Karla wants desperately to have her whole family together for the Christmas Eve. It’s not an easy thing to accomplish especially when her parents are divorced and on top of that Karla has two extremely obnoxious and inventive younger brothers who are always acting up. Karla then decides to leave and celebrate a different kind of Christmas together with homeless Buster.
Karla’s world is different kind of Christmas story and a humorous film for the whole family to enjoy.
10-year-old Karla has a puzzle she needs to solve. She is in a Christmas mood and her biggest wish is to gather her whole family and get her divorced dad to attend the family Christmas dinner. But Karla’s mom and step dad, Leif, are way too busy and in no mood to bake cookies and get into the Christmas spirit. The 5-year old little brother has an invisible friend, Licky, who, according to the little brother, is the cause of everything that goes wrong, all the while Mads Morten (8) is playing soccer everywhere. They NEVER get blamed for anything – Karla always takes the blame! Karla’s dad, Allan, is actually the world’s best dad, sometimes. He tends to drink a little too much. Mom, Rikke, is obsessed with cleaning and is mad at everyone all the time. Step dad, Leif, is super busy and unfortunately not that much of a handy man when it comes to children matters. When her two siblings tear the house apart, her dad cancels their dinner the night before Christmas Eve and the mother’s cleaning rage gets the best of her, Karla is pushed over the edge. She runs away from home to her friend Molly’s house to spend Christmas with her. But Molly is already on her way to her grandmother’s to have the perfect Christmas with her family. Disillusioned Karla starts to wander around. She meets the shabby Buster and the disabled Ejnar and she decides to spend the night before Christmas Eve with them. In this oddly made group she discovers that families are not perfect and that she can only solve her problems by accepting and loving her family the way it is – maybe it is not so bad.
