Ten-year-old Martin Sauvier, code name Marty, one day opens the bedroom door of Antoine Berrant, an elderly resident in a geriatric ward. The mute, paralyzed man spends most of his time trying to remember his past now overtaken by Alzheimer’s disease. Nevertheless, he remains fully alert and shares his emotions and most intimate thoughts with us by means of a voice that only we can hear. Marty, an energetic 10-year-old, is in hospital, receiving treatment for cancer. He is so popular with the staff that they allow him to explore the hospital. One of Marty’s excursions down the winding corridors leads him to the room of an elderly Alzheimer sufferer, Antoine Berrant. The poor man’s only visitor is his wife and so he takes an immediate liking to the little boy, who is so full of life, in spite of his illness. Six decades may separate them, yet Antoine and Marty become the closest of friends, able to share their thoughts and their feelings, in a way that re-ignites their passion for life...
