»Pumpkin Hell« opens on a highway-side pumpkin patch, the day before Halloween. Terry, a timid eleven year-old boy, searches in vain for a suitable pumpkin. Ignored by his father Jeffrey, Terry joins a group of children in a blow-up pumpkin castle. Inside he is attacked by a gang of bullies and passes out. When Terry gains consciousness, the castle is empty and his father is gone. Mick, the peculiar proprietor of the pumpkin patch, escorts Terry into his roadside trailer to try and call his father. To Terry’s dismay, Jeffrey does not pick up the phone. Mick is unsure how to treat his unexpected guest first offering him pornography, then Halloween candy. Terry is suspicious of this strange man’s intentions, but becomes increasingly enthralled by this misfit character who seems to understand him better then his own father. Encouraged by Terry’s companionship, Mick begins to open up to the young boy until he pushes things too far, resulting in Terry attempting a desperate escape. As Mick pursues him through a haunted pumpkin maze, Terry’s imagination gets the best of him as Mick morphs into a wild, pumpkin-headed monster. Finding his way out of the dream-like maze, Terry runs into the arms of his hysterical father and passes out. Terry awakes in the daylight of the pumpkin castle. He hears a familiar voice, welcoming him back. Looking up he sees his father ... only it’s not the father he thought he had.
