Mokhtar earns his living as a puppeteer. He is assisted by his son Nabil who is also learning to become a puppeteer. Using his old van, he moves between the few schools scattered in the gloomy countryside.
In their van, a puppeteer and his son in rural Algeria try to reach a village where the children are waiting for the show. On the way they will meet good and evil, just like their puppets in the stories they perform in the theatre.
Mokhtar, a travelling puppeteer, and his son Nabil, drive around in an old blue van to deliver puppets to children in marginalised areas.
Set in the Algerian countryside, the film reveals a deeply humane sensibility as it charts the prejudices and obstacles that Mokhtar and his son confront.
