Thirteen-year-old Rafael Bregman prepares for his Bar Mitzvah in the Jewish community of Montevideo, Uruguay.
Rafael Bregman is ready for the Bar Mitzvah: he will no longer be a child and become an adult. At least, that’s the intention of his orthodox Jewish relatives. Rafael tries his hand at it, even when he’s shy, doesn’t know what to do with his body and, to top it all off, is plagued by spots.
Rafael Bregman is going through a process of physical development – he is a bit shy and unlike most of his schoolmates, he has acne. Rafael prepares for the Jewish ritual of passage into adulthood, the Bar Mitzvah. As follows, portraits with tenderness and humor how Rafael lives this coming-of-age process where his social surrounding plays an important roll, contributing to make the protagonist enter the adulthood while at the same time he loses his innocence.
