»Silver Forest« is a brutally realistic coming-of-age story, set in a small Swiss town in a bleak winter landscape. A group of boys struggle with their mounting anger with the mundane world, resulting in a string of escalating acts of violence. Deep in the forest they finally find a release for their aggression by joining a Nazi gang – only to discover the boundaries where harmless play turns into murder.
Sascha Buhlmann, and his friends Patrick and Moni are drawn closer and closer to the exciting skinhead gang whose clubhouse is nestled deep in the forest. By comparison with their small town world of adults and failure to get the girls they want, this is a fascinating and exciting release for them.
Innocent-faced Sascha struggles with containing his anger and emotions. What starts with stealing money to take a girl to a concert, turns into a long string of escalating criminal acts and violent incidents. Sascha discovers he’s unable to control himself, his impulses and his violent outbursts, despite being a »good kid«; he looks after his mother when she has an accident, and begins a job in tree felling. But nothing seems to be enough to keep him from following his fascination with the skinheads, least of all his best friend.
