Three twelve-year-old boys find themselves attending the »EM3« class, which means the Singapore government has concluded they are not academically inclined and should take up a trade.
Kok Pin, who’s a talented artist, finds himself facing canings from his mom for his poor academic performance. Terry is used to having life handed to him on a platter, coming from a wealthy home with a dominating mother. Boon Hock is too busy helping his mom run their restaurant to give much thought to studying, although he gives it his best shot once a new teacher inspires him. How might the boys work together once Terry is kidnapped by one of his father’s disgruntled employees?
Kok Pin, Boon Hock and Terry are classmates in »EM3« stream. In Singapore, that means that at the age of 12, the government has decided that they are not as academically inclined as their peers. Kok Pin is creative and a born artist but his parents would rather he focus on his Maths and Sciences. Boon Hock comes from a low-income family and needs to balance school and helping out at the food stall. Terry, a spoilt brat is just too lazy a student. While the three children suffer from the pressure of school, their parents have another set of problems – their jobs and careers...
This is a satirical comedy which will make you laugh and cry almost at the same time. It portrays the struggles of three young children and their families in pursuit of academic excellence in a highly competitive society. The parents are equally challenged in the rat race, taking their own »exams« to survive in the modern society.
