A modest story about two young people who build up an intimate bond thanks to their shared past; deserted by their mother, they regard the »adult« world as hostile, unsafe and inaccessible. They find warmth with each other. Credibly filmed with occasionally bizarre situations in un-earthly moods.
In this short film from writer and director Natalia Lopez, Manuel and Octavio are two boys who were abandoned by their parents and have been forced to fend for themselves. Learning first hand about the cruelty and injustice of the world of adults, Manuel and Octavio trust only one another, and have developed a close friendship that gives them the warmth and affection they’ve been denied in their lives. Featuring Octavio Machetto and Juan Manuel Ugalde, En El Cielo Como En La Tierra (aka In Heaven Like On Earth) was honored as Best Experimental Film at the 2006 Morelia International Film Festival.
