Υπόθεση:
Five-year-old Peter and his older brother Hans are desperate, because they lost the Christmas presents for their parents on a pedestrian crosswalk, and some cars rolling over destroyed them. Shortly before the Leipzig Christmas fair closes, they buy a ticket from their last money and win a washing machine. They are overjoyed – but how to bring it home?While Hans and the grownup winner of a canning char full of mixed pickles go searching for a wheelbarrow, Peter should keep an eye on the present. After a while a friendly Santa Claus appears, introduces himself as Willi, practices a little magic and takes the washing machine away. Trusting little Peter thinks that Santa brings the washing machine to their mother, but Hans is not convinced at all. Together with other children and youngsters they take up the chase, following a hint. Willi told Peter that he works in a nearby circus.
Actually, they find him there, however, he climbs onto the roof of the circus tent, jumps on a horse and flees. Now the circus artists and Clown Ferdinand join the wild pursuit. First Willi succeeds with the circus horse to shake off his pursuers. When he collects the washing machine, which he had stored at a railway station, and wants to ride home with a taxi, he is discovered by Clown Ferdinand. Now the taxi drivers also intervene in the search. First Willi successfully can trick his pursuers, but then Clown Ferdinand collars him. He makes clear to Willi that Peter still believes in the good of man. Thus Ferdinand succeeds in converting the thieving Santa Claus.
In the end Peter and Hans can happily surprise their mom with an almost welcome and needed Christmas present, and they are surrounded by the crowd in a Christmassy mood.
