Υπόθεση:
Hanna Koller and her husband Michael lived on the sunny side of life. They felt secure in their old house, and the birth of their son Patrick made their luck perfect. Professionally everything was going as planned: Hanna had enough offers as an actress and Michael a secure income as a caricaturist. Together, they wished for a second child. They were shocked when their daughter Pauline came into the world severely disabled because of a medical blunder and would depend on lifelong round-the-clock nursing.
Now the child is six years old, the parents have long quarreled with their destiny, suffered from the charges of their life and their marriage, always operating on the very edge of a nervous breakdown. Hanna is so self-sacrificing in looking after her little daughter that she is too exhausted to still feel something for her husband. Sometimes she also feels let down by him. Her career seems destroyed, and unconsciously she causes Michael to suffer for it. More and more he takes to the bottle, loses his footing and only wants for everything to again be as it once was.
Nevertheless, in the end, the somber future prospects, the fight with lawyers, consultants and courts, the used up gallows humor, the creeping estrangement between Hanna and Michael brings their married life to the edge of final failure. Then another disaster occurs, an accident in which Patrick becomes seriously injured, astonishingly becomes the key to the rescue of the family.
