Υπόθεση:
Autumn 1978 in suburban Sweden. Everything seems to be fine with the middle class Bendrick family with their two teenage children and a younger son, until the mother starts seeing her first love again after 20 years. Just like their badly built house, the family façade starts slowly crumbling into pieces. The daughter, 15, finds her first love, and the boys too are puzzled by their own questions around adolescence and sexuality. The father tries to keep up a happy face, while the youngest son is the first and the most sensitive to realize how the family is heading towards a disaster.
A small town in Sweden in the autumn of 1978.Tennis star Björn Berg is currently being celebrated as a national hero, nuclear power is the big subject of the day and a youth subculture in England calling itself »punk« has coined a disturbing new credo – »no future«.
But for the average middle-class Bendricks family, all of this seems a very long way away indeed. Bosse and his wife Mona have three children – two girls and a boy. Ola is seventeen, Katta fifteen and their son, Morgan, twelve. The Bendricks live in a house that Bosse himself built; they have two cars and a small motorboat. Ostensibly, it looks as though all’s well in their lives. If one were to take a closer look, however, one would realize that their perfect facade is on the brink of collapsing – just like Bosse’s badly-built house. For each and every member of the family leads a clandestine life outside their own four walls which is kept secret from all the others – so as not to jeopardize their »blissful« family life.
Mona has met a childhood sweetheart again and their old love affair has been rekindled; Bosse has been keeping the fact that their home is about to collapse a secret from Mona; Ola is currently going through what is probably the darkest phase of her adolescence, whilst Katta has fallen in love for the first time and has just discovered her sexuality. It wouldn’t take much at all to make the family fall apart altogether. Yet it is Morgan, of all people, who can see that they are heading for catastrophe ...
