»The Mirror« tells the story of a man – in the sense of the human being – which passes from childhood to the status of »old man«, in the time to freshen up.
Shot as a life-long documentation of a man looking in the bathroom mirror, the short film takes the viewer through the many stages of life, and identifies each age with understated cues, like shaving and losing a tooth. From toddler to father to old man, the audience watches as the main character seamlessly grows older in small ways, which always comes across as believable. Incredibly well-cast and using only one set to tell a very long story, this is an impressive piece which highlights the storytelling abilities of directors Antoine Tinguely and Laurent Fauchère.
