Υπόθεση:
Sofia and Valerio, eleven and twelve years old, respectively, and both children of separated parents, meet by chance and make friends during a suffocating summer in Naples. Valerio lives in Italy and Sweden (he arrives by plane), Sofia is a child from a second union. Their friendship is an »alliance« through which they try to overcome family difficulties, the sudden changes of mood of their frantic and yet generous forty-year-old fathers, with whom they spend their holidays, and the occasional aggressive attitude on the phone of their distant or absent mothers. A parental confusion is threatening and scaring Sofia and Valerio, from which the two children defend themselves watching the »world of adults« with some detachment.
This is a marvellously affecting story in which the children are the emotionally assured, mature ones, and the adults are confused, lonely and distraught. Sofia and Valerio, two children on the verge of adolescence, meet by chance during a summer in sunny, seaside Naples. The children have something in common: Their parents are divorced, and they are in the custody of their fathers, who are the sensitive, caring ones; the mothers are ab-sent, apart from brief, hostile appearances and phone calls. »Life’s not fair«, the children say, as they face the world. The problems are just as real, the solutions just as hazy.
