Υπόθεση:
The story of a remote Siberian village, whose main treasure is beautiful horses. According to a local legend many years ago beautiful horses appeared in the village by miracle. Since that time the herd has been protected by the villagers and were saved even in the time of war and hunger. The chairman of the village council lost public funds on unsuccessful business and decided to make up by selling the herd to a slaughter house. Everybody is afraid to argue or are to lazy to speak out. A ten year old boy, nicknamed Sparrow, son of the local shepherd secretly borrows his grandfather’s rifle, meets the truck with the horses, holds up his rifle and shouts: »Stop or I shall shoot!« The chairman cannot stand the challenge and turns back.
According to a local legend, many years ago horses in the village Vasilievka appeared by some miracle. Since that time the famous herd of horses was cherishingly protected by the villagers – they managed to save the horses even in the time of war and hunger. But nowdays, when a failure of crops happened here and the chairman of village council has to decide how to pay people their salaries and how to return the credit given by the bank, he has no other choice but to sent horses to a slaughter-house. The whole village tries to protect horses, but the economical practicability is more important than all other arguments. And now the only one who is ready to protect the herd is Mitka »Sparrow«, the son of the shepherd.
