Υπόθεση:
On the night before his marriage, a young man and his fiancée return to the castle where he grew up to find out why he is impotent. In flashbacks, it is shown that his aristocratic mother indulged in nearly every sexual perversion known to man: orgies, incest, and so on. He and his fiancée blow up the castle, and she helps him begin a more normal life.
The film follows a young aristocrat’s attempt to overcome the painful memories of his domineer-ing mother on two different levels: as a twelve-year-old boy and then at the age of 35. Jan visits his parental home – an old castle – with his fiancée, where they plan to live after they get married. There he is a plagued by the memories of his neurotic mother. Only when the castle is reduced to rubble in the wake of an orgiastic bacchanal is the way to the future open for the young couple. This was the second film (after »Loving Couples«, 1964) directed by Mai Zetterling. »Night Games« was the Swedish entry to the 1966 Biennale in Venice, where it had to be shown as a private screening. Due to erotic and allegedly pornographic scenes the Italian and French censors demanded massive cuts.
