Υπόθεση:
»The Burglar« is a Russian film depicting the final days of the former Soviet Union as seen through the eyes of Sonny, a boy of about 13.
Sonny comes from a home where the mother has recently died. He is neglected by his alcoholic father and his idolised musician brother. To help his brother out, Sonny steals a valuable synthesiser and is eventually arrested for this crime. There is an air of hopeless that runs throughout this film as personal lives crumble in the same way as the state was then crumbling.
Much of the film is shot in documentary style covering juvenile delinquency and the punk bands in Sankt Petersburg. On its release, muscovites found it hard to believe that the second city was as sophisticated as it is depicted in this somewhat depressing film.
