A fearless cop is appointed to investigate a series of puzzling murders which resemble Fairy Tales.
One Day, a medium built stammerer, Jun (Wang Bao Qiang) confesses five murders at police station, but he fails to illustrate the details, after long oral examination the police believes Jun is mentally disorder and his mentioned murder cases do not come from the fact. Soon after, a cold-blooded murder unveils a series of mysterious murders in the dis-trict where Detective Han (Lau Ching Wan) stations in. Each of the victims is executed by differ-ent but equally brutal way. Han knows that he is dealing with a serial killer. Instinct tells him Jun is the suspense after he goes over all recent statements. His team goes and rummages around in Jun’s apartment, except a pile of old fairy tale books, no criminal evidence is found in the messy apartment. One night, Han gets inspired when his wife is reading bedtime story to their autistic son, mentioning the way to inflict punishment upon villains in the story. He immediately sets off to examine the fairy tale books page by page in Jun’s apartment. The team discovers mysterious symbols on the last pages of five books, and the punishments to villains described in two of the books match the setting of two previous murders, evidences show that three more vicious murders will happen. All of a sudden, Jun is back and arrested by Han. The police are still lack of evidences to drop any charge on Jun, Jun refuses to say anything about the next planned murder, which prevents Han from saving the next victim, time is running out, Han is desperate to save the poor sufferers ...
