A short film about Donnie (11), who refuses to accept his mother’s emotional dependence on her boyfriend. Donnie tries to get the boyfriend to leave, but just when he seems to have succeeded, we see that things haven’t really changed that much for Donnie and his mother.
Eleven-year-old Donnie is trying to obtain his swimming certificate. Meanwhile, his mother has a boyfriend that Donnie doesn’t get along with. He tries all sorts of things to banish him from his mother’s life. Donnie eventually seems to succeed, but the result is not what he had envisaged.
Short social-realistic slice of life, about growing up in an emotional vacuum and the inability to really connect, emphasised by the apartment blocks, the tiled swimming pool and a desolate industrial zone.
