During the Cuban crisis in 1962, in one small serbian town people preparing festive arrival for the president Tito, which Gavrilo (local police commander), sees as a life opportunity to get his promotion. In the meantime, Cuban crisis divided citizens on two enemy sides: Several of them support Kennedy, the other ones Khrushchev, and in the middle of them, Gavrilo with his deputy Živorad »controls situation«, by arresting some of them as the »dangerous element«, but even because of their »unsightly appearance«, so that »reporters and president wouldn’t scared of them«. Local kids, fascinated by art of film and disgusted with ambience, planning to run away from there, no less than to Hollywood.
The story of three boys who, fascinated with seventh art magic, decide to escape from their remote village straight to Hollywood. In the same time, a local policeman frantically organizes a reception for the president of the state. His »strictly controlled« citizens, under the influence of events in Cuba, in 1962. start dividing in two parties, resolved to succeed where Khrushchev and J.F.K. have failed.
»Three Tickets for Hollywood« takes place in a fictional small town during the time when the world was focused on Cuban missile crisis, wondering if World War III is about to start. Further raising tensions among the locals was the announced visit of Marshal Tito in his Blue train. In a town where everyone is poisoned by politics, were we have Russophiles, sympathizers of the American way of live and opportunist who are seeking personal gain, order is required and the police chief Gavrilo and his deputy Zikica have seen their chance for a promotion.
