King Ponce is a film about teenage masculinity and group acceptance. Robbo has a passion for ballroom dancing but, being the new kid at school, he doesn’t want anyone to find out, especially not Gaz and his gang, with whom he’s beginning to gain a coveted acceptance. Does Robbo have the confidence to stand up to the potential social consequences, or will he forever be labelled a »ponce«?
This exploration of teenage masculinity follows the trials and tribulations of a young boy who loves ballroom dancing, then suddenly finds himself attending a rough, laddish school. The title role is played by young James Lomas, the Olivier Award-winning performer who originated Billy Elliot in the West End.
