ORPS – THE MOVIE is about five friends Ikko, Amalie, Babb, Murmel and Ling who play in the school band called »Old Tomter Marching Band«. The event of the year is coming up: The Marching Band Championships. It’s a band trip! And with it, the opportunity to get a boyfriend! – at least that’s the goal for the talkative, impatient and bubbly Amalie. Ling on her side is hoping that she will finally be noticed for her great talent, while Ikko is hoping Ling will notice him. And possibly Murmel will be able to play a whole song without passing out and the quiet and modest Babb will finally be able to speak up and say what she really thinks about bullying. But there is one thing, or rather one person, who’s standing in their way: their new conductor, the famous cornetist Elsebeth Bull. Elsebeth is a very manipulative lady who, in a sneaky manner, decides she wants these kids out of her band. She will win the Championships and nothing will stand in her way.
Eliminated unjustly from the school band, the five kids decide to form their own marching band and name it, by accident, »Orps«. Together with the tomboy Jannik and the marching band’s former conductor, the eccentric Morris, they’re going for the Championships title. Their determination is met with numerous sabotage and plots from the school band, which ultimately leads to a wild bus race on their way to the Championship venue. Michael, the lead cornetist and the hottest guy in the school band, has now discovered that Orps is actually rather cool and chooses to switch bands! Out of despair, Elsebeth makes an offer to Ling that is too good to refuse, supposedly. With great eagerness, enthusiasm and real musical joy, the kids will inspire and excite everybody including themselves and make the Championship an unmatched experience!
