Sinopsis:
Mary Ellen is growing up. A fact that everyone is noticing especially Grandma. When Grandma returns from a visit from some relatives, she brings quilting squares intended for a mountain custom of the »Quilting«. The tradition is that a young girl who is just about to enter womanhood has a party where the women of the community and her work on the quilt that will be the first item in her »dowry«. Mary Ellen, a future career woman, does not want a party because she interprets it as »Mary Ellen Walton is available for marriage«. The young girl is further disconcerted when a young boy makes unwanted advances to a »marriage proposal«, and the women tease that if Mary Ellen can not find a man her age she’ll be stuck with Yancy Tucker (the areas most unwanted and very confirmmed Bachelor). Mary Ellen gets so angry that she refuses to attend upsetting the whole house and causing her mother and grandmother a little rift. Meanwhile the men decide to have a pool tournament with chili and the »Recipe«. Mary Ellen comes to her senses and attends the Quilting. The men come to the Walton house in a good mood and everything ends with singing and dancing as the mens and womens partys come together.Chicos actores
