Sinopsis:
The big-dipper bearing Jack and the Prince rushes on to the lake. Jack finds an old punt on the coast. The last thing they have to do is to paddle on and they are home. Jack’s powers is leaving her and Pravoslaw, for all the troubles passed through, cannot stand her any more. He disappoints her again. He does not believe her. The boat is tilting and Jack falls in the water, but the prince does not help her. He sues nobody but himself. Thus, he is the only one to walk out on the coast.
He meets people, and as he is wearing on his neck the emblem of the Scrubs’ family, people accept him to be their king.
In the meantime, Jack is fighting with a big fish. She puzzles it with the spider mantle and luckily swims up to the coast. A mysterious ghost figure appears in the trees. She turns back and what she sees is Love. Love is fading away, though Jack asks her desperately to stay.
Dirty and bruised, she walks through the waste land. Who might consider her to be the saviour of Prince Peavoslaw? She meets a woman digging a seventh grave. All of her family has died. The last child might not survive the diseases, either. Jack shows her the herb that should help the baby.
She approaches the wayside cross and prays desperately not to become embittered and to stay kind-hearted... She has to trick the robbers and to save a monk. She walks through a great deal of the country with a sad and wretched crowd, a metaphor for the sufferings of life, in the end to learn from a noble rider that Pravoslaw has become the king.
All the suffering she has passed through turns in a nightmare and Jack loses her consciousness. She awakes on a rack wagon, alike the one in which they were taking her to the castle of Reasonberg. The wandering players are coming, yet this time with a performance of the king’s liberation. It is a false story of Prince Pravoslaw’s manhood and strength. The artists’ story ends with the death of the princess who saved him. Jack would like to tell everybody the truth she has not got drowned, that she’s alive, but nobody can recognize her. Only the executioner finds her familiar.
Thus, Jack is to be sent to prison again. Luckily enough, it seems there’s someone else that has recognized her. It is the Wiseacre, who will take her to the king, so that he may decide himself of her life or death. When Pravoslaw can see she’s alive, he is scared of what she might ask for. He does not feel like sharing the possessions and the crown with her. Anyway, a country girl can’t be a queen... for the half of the kingdom that is due to her, he grants her life, »broad-mindedly«. Jack takes nothing else but the hardhay amulet ...
Free, weeping, yet happy of the experience she’s got, she is leaving. When Bloody appears again, Jack frees her from the glass sphere and by a rack wagon, she leaves for her native village of Greenwood, to embrace those she used to love.
Everyone is enthusiastic to see her back. The spider-woman is here, as well ... And what about Homebird? He has become the magistrate. Finally, they have time enough to talk, and there’s much to do; holding their hands, they welcome Love back in the kingdom and in their hearts.
