Sinopsis:
Traditional village life in pre-World War II Latvia is lovingly reconstructed in this amiable children’s drama. In the story, Bonifacijs is a cute six-year-old boy who spends most of his time pretending to be a knight or any one of a number of other local legendary heroes from medieval times, scampering around his village to enact one or another of his fantasies under the amused and watchful eye of the other villagers. He is the particular pet of a lovely young woman named Brigita, who jokingly calls him "my little fiancee.« She is unaware that he is so earnest and ingenuous that he thinks she is serious when she says that. When it becomes clear that she is to marry another, he discovers that he has some growing up to do, but by the time of the wedding itself, the big-hearted lad is sincerely praying for her happiness.
Life as seen through the eyes of a six-year-old boy in the beautiful countryside of Latgele, a region of Latvia, prior to World War II. The boy is in love with a grown woman who jokingly calls him "her little boyfriend«. She could not imagine that the boy would take it so seriously. Marriage is planned with her fiance and this little precocious youngster plots to stop the wedding. A mixture of comic and the dramatic events.
