Sinopsis:
Bobby, a small dog, befriends Ewan, a young boy. The adventures that they share in 19th-century Edinburgh change their lives and the city forever. Based on the true story of »Greyfriars Bobby«.
A terrier named Bobby makes history: After the death of his master he lies on his grave at first every day. Then the young boy Ewan, a former charge of his master, should look after him. When the widow of the deceased decides to move away from the city, she takes Bobby with her. Ewan is inconsolable. Bobby also misses the boy and the grave of his master so much, that he runs for miles so as to come back to Edinburgh. With Ewan stuck into a grim orphanage, it is Bobby again who helps him escape. Once again the terrier brings the anger of the authorities upon his head. Now Ewan must proof what he is made of: He convinces the Lord Mayor to inter-vene. But even he seems powerless against the officialdom. That is, until an old book crops up according to which important figures in Edinburgh can grant city rights. John Henderson takes this legend from the times of industrialization, turning it into a tragi-comic historical drama about the acceptance of authority and rebellion.
