Sinopsis:
Eleven-year-old Edgar lives a sad and boring life. Every day he performs the same routine in his secluded house in the woods, which includes carving people out of wax and playing with a small mouse. Everything changes one day when he stumbles upon an enormous chocolate cake in the woods. One bite brings him the companion he’s always wanted. What will happen when the cake is all gone?
Edgar, an 11 year old boy, lives alone in the woods. He performs the same routine everyday, with only a small mouse as a friend. He acts much older than he really is, and it seems he may be doomed to a life of loneliness and seclusion.
Everything changes when one day Edgar finds an enormous chocolate cake with an inscription warning not to eat to much. After some debate, he eats a handful. To his surprise Gillian, a young gypsy-like girl, appears magically. Intrigued by the possibility of a friend, Edgar has an immediate bond with Gillian.
Shortly after her appearance, Gillian begins to grow sick. She melts into chocolate and the cake disappears. Once again, Edgar finds himself left alone.
The next day Edgar is delighted to see that the cake has reappeared. Over the next few weeks, Gillian and Edgar spend as much time together as possible. They run, play, and get dirty. Things in which Edgar has never enjoyed until now, but it may come at a price. As Edgar and Gillian grow closer, the cake gets smaller and smaller.
What will happen to Gillian when the cake runs out? Will she disappear forever or will she stay in Edgar’s world? Edgar must risk everything in order to find out.
