Sinopsis:
A boy, liberated from a concentration camp, fights his way home with the Czechoslovak Army.
The film tells the story of a small Czech boy František Bureš, freed by the Soviet Army from a Nazi concentration camp, who ends up fighting with Czech soldiers at the Dukla Pass. Soldiers from the field laundry, to which the boy is assigned, take an instant liking to him. But Práče – as the boy is nicknamed after the smallest of Hussite fighters – does not like working at the laundry. He keeps trying to get into combat in order to be able to show his bravery. That is why the soldiers decide to teach him to shoot and send him as a messenger. For the first time in his life, František sees a real battlefield, but manages to regain control of himself. During one of his errands he by chance discovers German spies in Soviet uniforms, for which he is awarded a medal of merit.
