Sinopsis:
After leaving home to find work in the late depression, Jesse Thompson is inadvertently caught in a sweep that rounds up a gang of youthful hobos. They are all sent to a work farm which proves to be little more than slave labor in the manufacture of turpentine. Jesse, as an outsider, is suspected of being a stool pigeon, but he clears his name, though not without difficulty. Viewers might note that young Walter Tetley went on to become the voice of Sherman in "The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show« in the 1960s.
A young boy must go out into the world to support his family after his older brother is laid-off from the mines. This lurid tale is tabloid drama but the film is a suprisingly effective story of teen hobos rounded up and forced to working like prisoners on a rural turpentine farm by unscrupulous racketeers. They are rescued by a kindly social worker trying a new approach and introduce the boys to a kinder, gentler juvenile camp.
