Sinopsis:
The swashbuckling adventures of the hero of the Revolutionary War. His contributions weren’t always appreciated by the new U.S. government. After the way Congress show their displeasure by sending him to the Russia of Catherine the Great.
The epic story of the man who, from humble beginnings in Scotland, went on to found the United States Navy during the American War of Independence from Great Britain in the 1770’s. Expensively produced on a large scale, this is definitely one film that deserves to have a widescreen DVD release. John Charles Farrow only has a small part at the beginning of the film, lasting only a few minutes. But he creates a lasting impression and leaves the viewer wanting to see more of him. Max Steiner contributes a rousing score with a stirring main theme and haunting piece of music to represent, the youth; the hopes; the wonder and the dreams of childhood reflected in the beautiful face of young John Charles Farrow, as he goes to sea for the first time. For a few wonderfully photogenic minutes, we are treated to seeing young John learning the ropes and mastering the craft of seamanship, set to Steiner’s haunting piece, entitled Growing Up. Unfortunately, the lovely young boy soon turns into the grown up Robert Stack, leaving one to wish that the scenes involving young master Farrow could have gone on much longer.
