Sinopsis:
This is the first of two Children’s Film Foundation films on the Saturday Morning Pictures – Volume Four DVD. Back in the days when steam engines were being phased out and branch lines closed, Lord Chalk rescued the railway. But not before the children thwarted a mail robbery. The baddies helped the children to get Matilda running again but this was all part of a sinister plot to divert the mail onto the branch loop line. Of course the children saved the day after a gripping train chase. There are plenty of ammusing moments such as the bowler hatted official using his umbrella to defend himself from irate villagers and the crossing keeper setting fire to his breakfast. They don’t make films like this any more more’s the pity.
