Sinopsis:
The film is a comedy-drama about an upwardly aspiring middle-class family of burglars. Dad and his best friend Faucon go about their business of breaking and entering and cracking safes with the dedication of skilled performers. Mom explains to her young son that Dad and Faucon are like acrobats who »work without an audience and no net«.
As the boy, Francois, grows into his teens, he longs to join the family business. Mom and Dad won’t hear of it. Francois threatens to go to the cops. Mom and Dad care less about the boy’s blackmailing tactics than his eagerness to learn. Francois goes on to become something of a star safecracker. The family buys a house on the Riviera. Mom gets her longed-for cello.
