German title: Die kleine Nervensäge – Ein ganz verrückter Junge Francaise title: Menino Maluquinho Original title: Menino Maluquinho – O Filme
Alternative titles: O Menino Maluquinho – The nutty nutty boy / O Menino Maluquinho
Child comedy – Brazil Production year: 1994 Movie length: 90 minutes
Movie description:
The principal character in Helvécio Ratton’s delightful film has been adapted from a book and comic created by the Brazilian cartoonist Ziraldo, and tells the tale of a happy-go-lucky 10-year-old child growing up in a city in the 60s.
Unlike its stylish and magical sequel, Menino Maluquinho 1 is a drama/comedy that follows a boy of about ten as he interacts with friends and foes, addresses his parents’ separation, falls in love for the first time and spends some time with his grandparents in the countryside. Minus a dream sequence with a song and dance number, no element of fantasy or adventure is found, but this is a nice enough story as is.
