Movie description:
In 1968 the 14-year-old rebellious Wolfgang is put in a correction residential home by his parents, where he is to be »educated« to be a decent boy. Wolfgang offers resistance against the inhuman working conditions and the perfidious methods of education of the »Freistatt« people, but how long are the children be able to fight back against this system of violence and oppression without brutalizing themselves?
Rebellious, fourteen-year-old Wolfgang is pushed off to the youth care home of »Freistatt« social welfare district in 1968. Here he should be »educated« to become a decent boy. Wolfgang puts up a determined resistance against the brutal working conditions and the perfidious education methods of the warden; he doesn’t allow them to get him down. But how long can he still manage to resist the system of violence and oppression without brutalizing himself?
A movie based on true stories, about the merciless fight of a boy to save the last bit of humanity and dignity in an oppressive system of society.

Ein ausgezeichneter Film, der den sexuellen und körperlichen Mißbrauch von Kindern in solchen Heimen anzeigt.

Bei der Premiere im Hamburger Abaton-Kino am 22.06.2015 stellten sich die Darsteller nach der Vorführung vor die Leinwand – Fragestunde. War es wirklich so schlimm? Ein Zuschauer erhob sich und lobte mit bebender Stimme Louis Hofmann, damals gerade achtzehn geworden, für sein Spiel. Der Zuschauer war als Kind selbst in einem Heim wie Freistatt gewesen und erkannte sich in der Figur wieder. Beide weinten. Und ja, alles Gezeigte stimmte. Auch andere Zuschauer gaben sich als ehemalige Heiminsassen zu erkennen. Aufgewühlt, weil sie altes Leid wieder frisch fühlen mußten. Aber dankbar, daß das Thema authentisch erzählt wurde.
Zu empfehlen zu diesem Thema seien auch die auf wahren Begebenheiten beruhenden Filme Das Ende vom Anfang und ganz besonders, da in seiner schonunglosen Darstellung der Gewalt, was im Namen der Kirche der Jungen angetan wurde, der Film Song for a Raggy Boy.
Zu empfehlen zu diesem Thema seien auch die auf wahren Begebenheiten beruhenden Filme Das Ende vom Anfang und ganz besonders, da in seiner schonunglosen Darstellung der Gewalt, was im Namen der Kirche der Jungen angetan wurde, der Film Song for a Raggy Boy.
