Movie description:
A hearing impaired nine-year-old boy named Jason has a chance encounter with a mine that helps him to accept his disability, and puts a long overdue smile on his face.
Six hearing-impaired children and their teacher are on a bus trip to town. One of them is a silent boy who does not wish to communicate. In town he sees a mime, which acts as a catalyst that allows him to break through his wall of isolation and silence.
Jason, a young boy with a severe hearing disability, struggles to cope with his impairment, and has behavioral issues with his teacher, and other students at school. When he’s not allowed to join his class on a school trip to Toronto, he sneaks onto the bus, runs away from the group once in the city, and finds a friendly female mime who teaches him pantomime and bonds with him in a way his teacher hadn’t been able to.
