Movie description:
Northern California’s majestic Redwood Forest is the scene for a chance encounter between two children and Jasper, a two-foot-high gnome. Jasper has been desperately searching for a suitable bride to please Knobby, his 900-year-old grandfather. Surprised and delighted with their find, the children agree to help Jasper with his predicament – a problem that develops into a wild chase when an enterprising showman discovers the gnomes and quickly masterminds a kidnapping plot!
An eccentric millionaire and his grandchildren Rodney and Elizabeth are embroiled in the plights of some forest gnomes who are searching for the rest of their tribe. While helping them, the millionaire is suspected of being crazy because he’s seeing gnomes! He’s committed, and the niece and nephew and the gnomes have to find him and free him.
»The Gnome-Mobile« is a delightful Disney fantasy about two children and their uncle who stumble on a pair of gnomes in the forest. The film centers around their effort to protect the »little people« from a freak show entrepreneur and a group of unscrupulous land developers. This task becomes even more difficult when the uncle is thrown into a mental institution because he is seeing the gnomes!
It was based on a 1936 book by Upton Sinclair entitled »The Gnomobile«.
