»La Antena« (translated as »The Aerial«) is a quirky, black and white drama set in a mythical city where the all-powerful Mr TV has stolen the voices of the people, leaving them able to communicate only in subtitles. His biggest star is singing sensation The Voice, a faceless woman with the only voice left in the city.
However, unbeknownst to Mr TV, The Voice has an eyeless son who has secretly inherited his mother’s gift. With Mr TV hatching a new plot to steal the people’s words as well, the boy teams up with his neighbour Ana and Ana’s divorced parents to take the tyrant down.
A whole town has become silent, and under a long and harsh winter lives a mean and unscrupulous man; Mr, TV, the absolute owner of the images which illustrate and give a life to town, and of a large chain of products which he owns. He carries out a sinister secret plan to subdue each and everyone should that inhabits the town. In order to build this monopoly, he has financed the construction of a dangerous machine that transmits hypnotizing images on TV in order to persuade people to consume the products which he owes. This strange machine operates when a voice sings; this is why he orders a beautiful and charming woman to be kidnapped; she being the only person that has a mysteriously retained her voice.
The inventor of the machine, an employee of the TV channel, witnesses the kidnapping and realizes that this plan can be counteracted if the son of the kidnapped woman has inherited the power to speak. It is for this reason that he decides to escape along with his family and the boy, son of the voice, to a place in the mountains where there is an old transmitting aerial, in order to stop a tragedy from taking place.
