»The Bully« is a rich journey into the ubiquitous complications of a youth’s formative years. In an effort to win the favour of the popular girl, ten-year-olds Kelly and Sam, plot to take out the school bully, Noah Marns. This simple charge brings Kelly and Sam face to face with a much greater element, insurmountable and unexpected.
Kelly Daigle and his friend Sam Hughes are elementary school buddies. Although voluntary outsiders, they are, like everyone at this at this point in their life, on the verge of unavoidable change. Kelly and Sam are kids who pave their own path even as curiosity about other lives draws them in. They get close enough to glimpse their future and, like any growth, it comes not without a little unexpected pain.
Edwin Elementary is a typical small town school. It has its classrooms, playgrounds, cliques, popular kids and invisible ones. And it has the school bully, Noah Marns. When Kelly and Sam come to believe they will gain the affections of the popular girl by knocking the aggressive Noah down a notch, they make a plan to confront him. Kelly and Sam hope to face off with Noah outside his house and carry out their ignoble task. What they find instead is every child’s inevitable charge. Relationships and perceptions are changed, and the beautiful tragedy of growing up endures. Set at the very beginning of spring,
