Movie description:
Homeless and jobless, a young woman, Nina, lives on the streets of Paris with her five-year old son, Enzo. In the woods near to the palace of Versailles, she comes across a small hut, which is home to Damien, a young man who has turned his back on the world. Damien allows Nina and Enzo to spend the night with him, but in the morning Nina has disappeared, leaving the infant in his care...

Anyone who would like to make a film in France speaking out against social inequality would be hard pressed to find a better symbolic location than the Palace of Versailles. That is after all where Marie Antoinette addressed farmers without bread by saying: »Let them eat cake.« Set in today’s era, the film finds Nina, a homeless woman, and her five year old son Enzo near the palace. The social care offered to her would have taken her son and put him in a home. On the run in the forest behind the palace they meet Damien, a gruff dropout. Nina leaves her son with him – for years, as she reintegrates into society. The core of the story in this captivating, plainly depicted dark debut revolves around the bonding that takes place between Damien and Enzo: Guillaume Dépardieu magnificently portrays the anti-social roamer that must adjust to being a surrogate father in one of his final roles. And the little Max Baissette de Malglaive is a revelation! In one of the most powerful scenes, he runs from the forest in panic directly into the palace where wig-wearing, Rococo liveried servants are entertaining tourists. A fairy tale picture for bitter times that seem to have lost their freedom, equality and fraternity.
