Movie description:
At thirty-seven, Miri is a twice-widowed, El Al flight attendant. Her well-regulated existence is suddenly turned upside down by an abandoned Chinese boy whose migrant-worker mother has been summarily deported from Israel. The film is a touching comic-drama in which two human beings – as different from each other as Tel Aviv is from Beijing – accompany each other on a remarkable journey, one that takes them both back to a meaningful life.
When Miri (Mili Avital) returns home from work after a shift as a long-haul flight attendant she is exhausted. Instead of a tranquil homecoming she is drawn into the arguments of her sister and brother-in-law, and the chaos of her Chinese cleaner pleading to leave her young son behind while she runs a quick errand. Without a shared language by which to communicate, Miri is initially uncomfortable looking after the boy. When his mother doesn’t return by nightfall she grows increasingly concerned. Thrust together by chance these two souls, as different from each other as Beijing and Tel Aviv, embark on a remarkable journey.
