Filmbeschreibung:
Just before Christmas, department store clerk Steve Mason meets big spending customer Connie Ennis, really a commercial spy. He unmasks her but lets her go, which gets him fired. They end up on a date, which doesn’t sit well with Connie’s steady suitor, Carl, but delights her son Timmy, who doesn’t want Carl for a step-dad. Standard (if sweet) romantic complications follow.
This 1949 comedy features Janet Leigh who is a WWII widow who doesn’t have enough money to buy her son, Gordon Gebert, the model train he’s been wanting. Along comes Robert Mitchum to the rescue and he buys the train for the boy as a gesture of kindness even though it dwindles his own money supply. This snowballs into a series of comical complications thanks in part to the unwelcome arrival of Leigh’s stuffed shirt attorney/boyfriend, Wendell Corey. Harry Morgan appears as a flustered night court judge who helps tie some of the loose plot ends to this 1949 film.
